What is Cryogenic Treatment?

Cryogenic treatment, also known as cryogenic processing, is a process in which a material or component is exposed to very low temperatures (typically below -150°C or -238°F) in order to modify its properties. The process involves gradually cooling the material to the desired temperature, holding it at that temperature for a specified period of time, and then gradually warming it back up to ambient temperature.

Benefits of Cryogenic Treatment
ImmiPress

Increased Wear Resistance

Significantly refine the microstructure & mechanical properties of the Material which results in extended service life, reduced maintenance costs & increased productivity

ImmiPress

Reduced Residual Stresses

Manufacturing processes often introduce residual stresses in materials, which can lead to dimensional instability, distortion, and even premature failure. DCT helps relieve these residual stresses

ImmiPress

Enhanced Dimensional Stability

Materials subjected to deep cryogenic treatment experience reduced internal stresses and improved dimensional stability. It minimizes distortion, warping, and dimensional changes caused by machining processes.

ImmiPress

Improved Toughness

After DCT, Retained Austenites present in alloy steels undergo a full transformation to Martensite, which is a more tougher & stable phase.

Applications

There is a wide range of applications of Deep cryogenic treatment in various Industries like Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Equipment, Electronics, Cutting tool, Mold & Dies, Sports Equipments & many more. The performance of Materials may vary depending on the type of the Material, component, usage & desired outcome. Currently we are providing DCT Services to following Industries only:
